Meet our Management Team

Sanford J. Madigan, Ph.D. - Vice President Corporate Development

Prior to joining BioVerdant, Dr. Madigan served as vice president corporate development for Nereus Pharmaceuticals where he was instrumental in licensing the compounds in the company's Phase I programs and other potential clinical candidates. Prior to Nereus, Dr. Madigan was an early employee of Ambit Biosciences Corporation where he licensed the company’s founding technology from Yale University and helped to develop the company’s infrastructure and strategic direction. Dr. Madigan was also an early employee of X-Ceptor Therapeutics (acquired by Exelixis) and was responsible for overall strategic planning, establishing a significant corporate partnership with Sankyo and for licensing programs integral to the company’s technology platforms. Dr. Madigan was a co-founder of XenoPharm (acquired by Deltagen) and licensed the founding technologies from the Salk Institute and Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Madigan also held a series of increasingly senior positions at SIBIA Neurosciences, where he helped to grow the patent portfolio, establish corporate partnerships, manage patent litigation and participate in the acquisition of SIBIA by Merck.

Dr. Madigan received his B.S. in Biochemistry from The State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Ph.D. in Genetics from Stony Brook where he was awarded the Abrahams Memorial Award for outstanding potential for basic research. He performed his post-doctoral training at The Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California.
