Meet our Management Team

Tony Tibbetts – Co-founder and Chief Operations Officer

Prior to co-founding BioVerdant, Mr. Tibbetts was the Head of the Materials Production Lab within the Chemical Research and Development Group at Pfizer Global R&D in La Jolla, CA. While at Pfizer, he managed a group of scientists engaged in the scaleup of drug substance candidates for use in clinical trials. In 2002, Mr. Tibbetts was responsible for the renovation of the original Agouron facility (acquired by Pfizer), tripling its production capacity. Most recently, he designed the cGMP kilo lab suite in Pfizer La Jolla, part of a $57MM, 150,000 square foot facility to house the Pfizer Global Research and Development-Pharmaceutical Sciences division. He has led numerous internal and external drug substance campaigns used to drive clinical trials for a variety of drug candidates. Mr. Tibbetts has extensive experience in process development, GMP laboratory operation, quality assurance principles and laboratory design and construction.

Prior to his responsibilities at Pfizer, Mr. Tibbetts was a member of the Chemical Development Group at Agouron Pharmaceuticals and was integral to the formation of the Materials Production Group. Prior to joining Agouron, Mr. Tibbetts started his career as a scientist at La Jolla Pharmaceutical Co. where he participated in the discovery of an oligonucleotide-based drug candidate which he then helped to move into clinical studies. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara after two years of research with Prof. R. Daniel Little.
